CROW

Crow

As my career developed, my close friend, renowned composer/guitarist Dusan Bogdanovic approached me with a project. He was composing music to a cycle of poems by English poet laureate, Ted Hughes. We agreed that I’d utilize the poems to create large vessels for a performance.

He contacted French choreographer, Gilberte Meunier, who was working with the Pacific Dance Ensemble, and a number of musicians. I made a group of altered wheel-thrown forms (five to seven feet tall), with Hughes’ texts pierced into the surface for performances of Crow, which premiered at the L.A. Theater Center in 1990.

Collaboration involves giving up a little part of your identity, others giving up a little of theirs.
