In 1984, established in Los Angeles, California, I was throwing a series of stoneware vessels on the potter’s wheel. While none of the vessels individually expressed the platonic ideal of form generated in my mind, yet the series as a whole elucidated the image thoroughly. I detached glaze from the body of the vessel, using plexiglass to create a glass wall, supporting, isolating and sustaining the germinal bisque fired vessel. A homunculus within a metaphoric womb appeared.
